Magazine content description

Borec (Fighter), a journal of history, anthropology, and literature, is one of the oldest Slovenian journals and the only one that deals systematically and interdisciplinarily with the history and culture of anti-fascism and advanced contemporary social movements that also have theoretical support.

It was established in 1948 as a monthly dedication to commemorative and historiographical articles on anti-fascist resistance and its international significance. The journal has been published regularly ever since it was first issued in 1949.

Eventually it developed into a journal of the humanities and culture that is based on international and intergenerational cooperation. It focuses on examining history and reflecting on current topics of social reality, especially from the aspect of necessity of historical memory as opposed to the tendencies of historical revisionism, decontextualisation, and anesthetization of conflict segments of social reality. A special emphasis is given to contemporary art and feminism.

Contributions include original scientific and technical articles, essays, literature, especially poetry and short stories, memoirs and legacy writings, interviews, appeals, book and exhibition reviews, and original art presentations. They are divided into regular thematic sections: Memory Archives, History Horizons, Art and Reality, and Echoes and Reviews.
